I am 30 years old and I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy in 2012 at the age of 22. Narcolepsy affects all aspects of my life: my ability to work, my relationships, my social life, and my ability to do everyday things that most take for granted. I began snowmobile racing in 2014 alongside my husband Joel who introduced me to the sport in 2013. Racing has become a way for me to escape my symptoms for a little bit. I raced Lakecross with my husband and his family for 6 years. In 2020, Joel and I decided to take our racing career in a different direction. We now compete in the Cor Powersports Race Series, the largest cross country racing circuit in the nation. I competed in my first Women’s class race and won.

For the 2021 season, I had planned to race the I-500. Unfortunately, that race has been canceled due to a lack of snow. However, I will now compete in various races throughout the winter. I will start the weekend of January 23-24 with a race in Okoboji, Iowa. In honor of myself and those who fight every day living with narcolepsy, I have decided to turn these races into a fundraiser for Narcolepsy Network. These races will be my marathon. Narcolepsy Network (NN) is a non-profit organization and is the first resource I found after my diagnosis to not only help me learn about narcolepsy but to help connect me with others who live with it. NN does an incredible job advocating for those with narcolepsy and supports those who research in the narcolepsy field. They hold an annual conference for members to attend and hold weekly support groups online.
